We have tremendous area of idle land. One-fifth or about 1,000,000 acres is so-called waste land. This idle land is covered with worthless scrub growth producing nothing of commercial value. Six hundred thousand acres of this area is assessed at $5.00 or less per acres, hence the income to the towns or state through taxation is very small. Private owners have not in the past reclaimed this land but under the new tax law they can afford to do so. However, the state and towns can cope with this problem most successfully.
