Riparian Ecosystems

Water is a vital ingredient for all of life on Earth; without it we cannot survive.

Rivers have been referred to as the "arteries of the land", carrying the life blood of nature and humanity through the centuries. Unfortunately our mistreatment of rivers and streams has led to an urgent need for action towards protection and restoration. It is clear that in order to preserve our natural heritage, for food, for sport, and for spiritual fulfillment, stronger measures must be taken. We must plan carefully for present and future development, and realize that the many parts of the system must be considered not one at a time, but as a whole.
