Dear George,

I did not realize how confusing my letters to you were -- however you do seem to have interpreted them correctly. Your letter of November 13 was equally confusing but I believe that I too have sorted out what you meant to say. Which is, that I am not willing to pay you $18,860.71 for three section equivalents taught during AY98, an amount that you believe is yours by right since the State will allow you to earn that much.

I believe that I have explained to you clearly the reasoning by which I arrived at the figure of $10,000 for the course Science for Humane Survival. I further understand that you will not accept that reasoning. However, that is the salary that I offered you to teach the course and it is an offer that still stands. I hope that you will reconsider and sign the contract.

Yours sincerely,
/s/ Christine
