Videography

During the last three years (i.e. starting in 1993) I have begun a collection of videotapes for use in this course. Some of them are very effective in presenting information and points of view that are generally suppressed by mainstream media. For example, Barbara Trent's The Panama Deception, which won the Grammy award for Best Documentary in 1992, was, until the until the spring of 1994, shunned by all national television networks, including PBS. Finally PBS aired it once or twice.

Even though the list is short, and some of the tapes are not of professional quality, it seems reasonable to at least acknowledge the important educational role that videos can fill. Although I haven't yet done so, I intend, in future versions of the syllabus, to include some information about the content and quality of individual videos.
