The UMB Human Rights Working Group (UMBHRWG) is seeking contributions from students for its weekly Human Rights and Human Wrongs column in the Mass Media.   Opinion pieces, photo essays, artwork, poetry, and short stories are all acceptable as long as they will fit on a single page of the paper.  The contribution judged best will be published in the Mass Media its author will be recognized with a cash prize at the May 3, 2003 Human Rights Conference.  It is the UMBHRWG's belief that when it comes to human rights, everyone has something to contribute. 

 

Please email your work to umbhrwg@hotmail.com or drop it off in the UMBHRWG'S mailbox outside The Mass Media's offices on the first floor of McCormack or in the UMBHRWG's mailbox in the Political Science Department on the 4th Floor of Wheatley.  The deadline is March 29, 2003.

Contributions for our regular Human Rights and Human Wrongs column in the Mass Media should be from 500 to 750 words in length and sent to umbhrwg@hotmail.com or the University of Massachusetts Boston Human Rights Working Group (UMBHRWG) c/o The Mass Media, McCormack 00621, UMB, 100 Morrisey Blvd., Boston, MA 02125. We also want poetry, artwork, and photo essays. All contributions from students will be eligible for a prize (see the Human Rights Contest announcement above).The UMBHRWG is composed of UMB students, faculty, staff, and human rights activists from the wider community.  Its goal is to establish a human rights center and undergraduate degree granting human rights program at UMB.  If you are interested in human rights issues you are encourage to contact us at umbhrwg@hotmail.com and join us in our work.  Together we can make a difference.
